    • Elements with unstable nuclei are said to be radioactive (radioctive isotopes)
    • They eventuall break down and eject particles and emit high frequency electromagnetic radiation.
    • The emmission of these particles and radiation is called radioactivity
    • Because the process involves the decay of the atomic nucleus, it is often called radiocative decay
