JHU CTE Improving Quality - A Quick Tour

The Improving Quality System is the model for Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) developed by the Johns Hopkins University, Center for Technology for use as the Maryland EXCELS QRIS. We have built the model around the following elements: a robust data system, a valid rating and continuous improvement model, family engagement strategies, a focus on including all children, and a constant push to transform the workforce. The model has worked in Maryland, resulting in an increase of voluntary program participation from 77 programs to 5,600 and counting, at 58% less cost than estimated using the federal ACF Online QRIS Cost Calculator. We believe this model can work for other QRIS operators, resulting in reduced costs for all. If you would like to learn more, please contact Dr. Chris Swanson - chrisswanson@jhu.edu to discuss.
