Slide 3 - What must I do to be saved? Acts 16:25-34

    • About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said,

Slide 5 - A Person Must Listen and Understand before He is Born of the Spirit

    • Colossians 1:6 “of this you have heard before in the word of truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing-as it does among you, since the day you HEARD it and UNDERSTOOD the grace of God’s truth.
    • Romans 10:17 “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (18) But I ask, have they HEARD? Indeed they have,…..(19) But I ask, did Israel not UNDERSTAND?
    • 1 Cor. 1:21 “It pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who BELIEVE.
    • Eph. 1:13-14 In Him you also, when you HEARD the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and BELIEVED in Him, were SEALED with the promised Holy Spirit, who is a GUARANTEE of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory
    • 2 Cor. 5:5 He who prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a GUARANTEE
  6. Slide 6

    • The Bible says anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved, “What exactly are they saved from?”
    • Romans 10:9-13 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
    • Romans 10:13 takes us Acts 2:21 which is a quote from Joel 2:31-32
    • Matt. 3:7 But when many of the Pharisees and Sadducees were coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God.

  10. Slide 10

    • We are not commanded to “repeat” a prayer …..we are commanded to “repent” of our sins.
    • because, if you repeat some prayer of repentance and admit that Jesus is Savior and believe in your mind the facts (1 Cor. 15:1-3) God raised him from the dead (while remaining ignorant of the implications Acts 17:30-31), you will be eternally secure. For with the head one believes. [Because the Pastor was so happy to add to his number of converts and enjoys bragging about the number of members he has to the other pastors at the associational meeting (Gal. 6:13 NLT) and on top of that, you personally have no intentions of following Christ and will be instantly labeled as a hypocrite by those who actually know you.] For the Scripture says, “Everyone who once made a profession of faith will not be put to shame.” For in our church there is no distinction between obedience and disobedience; for the same Savior is Savior of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him at least once in their life time. For “everyone who has been publically baptized and became a member of a church will be saved.”
    • Savior 37 times in the Bible compared to Lord 6599 times
  11. But we are not under the Law we are saved by Grace!

Slide 11 - But we are not under the Law we are saved by Grace!

    • Hebrews 10:26-31 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
    • 1 John 3:9 No one born of God makes a practice sinning for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil, whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God…
    • John 8:34-35 Jesus answered them “Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin, The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free you are free indeed.
  12. Slide 12

    • A person is regenerated before he believes
    • A man is not saved because he believes in Christ, he believes in Christ because he is saved
    • A man is not regenerated because he has first believed in Christ, but believes in Christ because he has been regenerated.
    • When a man savingly believes, the saving power of Christ has already delivered him from his state of spiritual death.
    • We do not believe in order to be born again; we are born again in order that we may believe.

    • What must I do to be saved? (Do you see a change in his behavior after He believed?) Acts 16:25-34
    • And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
    • And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.
    • And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.
    • Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.
    • It was not IMPOSSIBLE for him to repent neither was it OPTIONAL for him to repent, God commands all people, everywhere TO REPENT. The number of unregenerate church members is staggering and is largely do to a misunderstanding of the word grace when tied to the word repentance!
